It's a known fact, ages on census' can often be out as many people were illiterate & guesses were made.
Death certs. are the most unreliable sources of ages as the info. is given by someone other than the subject themselves & often ages were a guess & names of parents a guess.
Who were the informants on the death certs. you have for the family to date?
It's always worth doing a timeline of events with notes of any discrepancies which makes it easier to work out true possibilities.
