Rees JONES, Tregaron

Rees Jones married Margaret EVANS, 13 Dec 1835, in Tregaron.

Rees was born ca 1815, Margaret ca 1818.

Rees's occupation was 'tailor'.

I have found them and their family in '51, '61 & '71, always in Tregaron, but I cannot find them in '41, by which time they had at least 2 children, John (1837) and Mary (1840).

Can anyone help, please?

Thanks. They are on the '51, with Mary, Thomas and Susannah in between. Mary should be on the '41, but I can't find her.

Might he have been registered as "Rees Rees, age 30, tailor, born in County?
Household includes Margaret 25,  John 4, Mary 2, address Water Street".

That has to be him and his family; too many co-incidences for it to be otherwise. I can only assume that this is an enumerator's error; the previous entry is a Margaret REES, and that surname was accidently carried through to the next family. We shall never know, but I'm happy that you've solved my mystery.

Checked the baptismal records for the children - abode given as "Tregaron" rather than drilling down to street level.
