Isn't it a book where the depositions of the parties to a defamation case are recorded.

google found this on the Somerset Archives site which is a bit explanatory perhaps

https://somerset-cat.swheritage.org.uk/records/D/D/cd

and ex pte. is short for Ex Parte

Yes it is from a deposition book, it was just those two little words, which I googled to no avail.

Many thanks I now know.

Many thanks for all of that.  I have looked at them including this one
Folio 95 with Robert Overington
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-DR87-69T

Is this the entire case, or is this the information I have but all in Latin.  I could see Overington but nothing else I could understand.

Many thanks

Hi
I'm not sure how much detail there is, there wasn't much info in the index (compared to some other cases)
You could try posting the link on the Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition board.
They do a bit of Latin there? :-\
