William Welsh Forbes MD 1806-1864 Inverness
« on: Sunday 21 August 22 06:00 BST (UK) »
I am researching the ancestors of William Welsh Forbes MD. I have his parents listed as George Forbes MD who died in 1832 in Inverness and Margaret Welsh 1781-1830 but can find no further information on his father, I think that Margaret Welsh's parents were William Welsh and Marjory Alves but haven't yet been able to positively confirm this. The Forbes line is my main area of interest. Thank you for any help given.

Have you looked on the film at Familysearch? To see if the marriage (Welsh/Forbes 19 Nov 1803) holds any useful information.
It is one you have to go to an affiliate library to view.

https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/92036?availability=Family%20History%20Library

That might be where you have to look for a baptism for George too.

Added. Notice in newspaper. margaret is the eldest daughter of William Welsh Esq.

Have you got a list of George and Margaret's children's names? Christenings from the OPRs on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk from the Inverness Registers:

1803 Marjorie
1806 William W
1808 Helen
1809 Duncan George
1811 David
1812 George Fiddes
1812 Margaret
1814 Jane
1818 Charles
1819 Peter
1820 Alexander
1820 James
1822 Marjory - first born likely died

Marriage year of 1803 mentioned by mckha489.

mckha489 mentions the name of Duncan George Forbes from newspapers. George and Margaret called one of their children Duncan George. Wondering how this person connects to George. Maybe a brother or was he just a relative?

There is a death in the OPRs for a Sarah Walker, wife of a Duncan George Forbes in Inverness in 1838. Maybe worth looking to research Duncan George to see if there is any mention of his parents?

Just in case you have not seen the family gravestone and inscription www.oddquine.co.uk/gravestones/chapelyard/SN851800.jpg from Chapelyard Cemetery, Caithness. You might want to double check on the location. It might be an error. There is also a Chapelyard Cemetery in Inverness which would seem more likely for the family www.britainexpress.com/scotland/Highlands/properties/chapel-yard-cemetery.htm

Added: Yes, it is the cemetery in Inverness www.findagrave.com/memorial/181180593/george-forbes
