Hi

This photo was in an album of photos belonging to my cousin Thomas Lewis Singleton, 1847-1922. It has no copyright restrictions.

To me it looks like American civil war photography which would make it a mutual cousin or is it fancy dress from a more recent period?

The man standing is a junior officer in the British Army, an Ensign possibly. Circa 1860s - 1870s. His cap shows "51" suggesting 51st Foot.

There was an Arthur Singleton Wynne (later a General) in the 51st at that time. Posted to the 51st as an Ensign in 1863.
