Commonwealth War Graves Commission are appealing for direct blood relatives of Leading Seaman John T Edwards - Service No 165821 - buried East Lulworth St Andrews Cemetery - died 3/2/1918
Aged 46 years.


Holmtown, steamship, torpedoed and sunk by UB.59 in English Channel; naval casualties:

EDWARDS, John T, Leading Seaman, 165821, untraced

The private memorial marking the grave of Leading Seaman Edwards no longer provides adequate commemoration.  The Commission are in the process of producing a new headstone to mark his grave.

John Edwards was single in 1911 - H M S Euryalus, Torbay, South Devon.

Father John Thomas Edwards, mariner, son of John Edwards, roper, married Catherine Lawry 7/9/1860 St  Just in Roseland - Catherine died 1874 and John remarried to Rebecca Davey 26/8/1877 St Just in Roseland.

William George married Edith Ellen Dignam 2/1/1900 Dartmouth - one daughter only:

Reginald William Edwards born 9/9/1911, died 1997 - married Beatrice Jane Shear in 1928 (both
                                  17) and 2 children: Reginald George John born 4/11/1928, died 2005 and
                                  Marjorie Jean born 17/10/1932, died 1983.   RGJ married in 1954 to a
                                  Williams - possible son born 1957 Truro.  Marjorie died with surname
                                  Chapman although cannot find a marriage.   Online tree states she had a
                                  son.
John Thomas Edwards born 1/8/1915, died Nov.1987 Truro - possible marriage to a Florence M.
                                  Doney in 1944 and possibly 2 daughters born 1952 and 1956.
