Humphrys of 'Woodfield' Newtownbarry.
« on: Saturday 03 September 22 09:07 BST (UK) »
Hi all. I am looking for some information on the Humphrys family (Francis Humphrys) who is listed at dying in the late 1700s, of Woodfield, Newtownbarry (Bunclody).

I am after information on this family. Information on where Woodfield is and if it could have been leased by the Humphrys as from what I have seen it was owned by Maxwell family. Maybe Humphrys lived on the estate???

Any help great. I also cannot find anything on the origins of Francis.
Thanks, Katharine.

Here's Woodfield on the OSi National Townland and Historical Map Viewer (choose MapGenie 6 Inch First Edition Black from Basemap Gallery). Pan down to see Newtownbarry.

It's now called Newtownbarry House on the outskirts of Bunclody (as named on later maps).

This article gives some information about the restoration of the gardens.
