Henry Bloomfield Barter
« on: Saturday 03 September 22 11:39 BST (UK) »
Hello, I am struggling to find who the parents of Henry Bloomfield Barter are.
I was pretty sure they were Henry Barter (b. 1791 in Poole) and Elizabeth Lawrence (b.1801 in Dorset), but now i've seen that other family trees have Henry Barter down as having two different wives called Elizabeth. I'm not sure if Henry B Barter's mother is Elizabeth Lawrence or a different one.

I found Alexandrina Victoria Barter and can prove her mother is Elizabeth Lawrence from her birth record, so this may be Henry B Barter's sister or step sister.

I can't find any record for a marriage between a Henry Barter and an Elizabeth Lawrence which would be helpful for working out what children belong to which marriage.

I will list all the possible children of Henry Barters and Elizabeth Lawrence's:
Harriet Barter (b.1816 Dorset)
Elizabeth Barter (b. 1826 Poole, Dorset) married James Meadows
Amy Barter (b.1829 Poole, Dorset)
Henry Bloomfield Barter (b.1831 Poole, Dorset) married Clara Louisa Jeffreys
Maria (L?) Barter (b. 1833 Poole, Dorset)
Edwin Henry Barter (b. 1836 Poole, Dorset) married Caroline Morris

Alexandrina Victoria Barter is the daughter of Henry Barter and Elizabeth Lawrence but all the other children could be another Elizabeth's children if not proved otherwise, which is what i'm struggling to do.

Any information on any of the childrens parents and the marriage between Henry Barter and either Elizabeth's would be very appreciated, Thank You!!

Hi
Christenings I can see at Poole
Henry Mackerell 2.6.1822 -7.6.1822 of Longfleet Merchant
Charles Augustus 26.6.1835 Poole Gentleman
Emma and Senhora Donna Maria  de Gloria Johanna Charlotte etc Q of Portugal  13.5.1836 of Poole gentleman
Edwin Henry 5.1.1837 of Long fleet gentleman
Alexandrine Victoria  28.1.1840 gentleman Lytohek?
And possibly George at Wambrook 24.12.1815 labourer

There seems to be an Elizabeth buried 23 May 1822 age 20 of Long---t
And Henry remarried Elizabeth Lawrence 2.4.1834 wit James and Sarah Lawrence at Poole

So it does look like Henry Bloomfield Barter must be from the first marriage.

I'll see what else I can find

Henry Barter Lawrence bp.24/1/1831 Poole, baseborn son of Elizabeth Lawrence.

So, Henry was from the second marriage albeit born 3 years before his parents married.

Thank you both very much!
Glad that Henry's mum was Elizabeth Lawrence after all. I'll assume children born before 1822 are from another Elizabeth.

(sorry if this is an obvious question) but I looked at the baptism of Emma Barter and saw that in the notes it said about Senora Donna Maria Princess of Brazil + Portugal and so on, as you said Ciderdrinker; but I was just wondering why that was in the notes of the baptism?

thanks,

Hi
Sorry I should have been clearer
There were 2 little girls baptised that day.One called Emma and one called after the Queen of Portugal-Senhora Donna Maria  de Gloria Johanna ,Charlotte,Leopolda ,Isadora la Cruz Francisca Xaviera da Paula Michalla Gabriella Rufuela Luiza Gonsales .
Strangely the Vicar couldn't fill all that into the box.
Apparently there had been an attempt of a coup in Portugal in 1836 and The Queen had appealed to Britain and Belgium for aid.

It does make you wonder what happened to little Senhora.
