bristol municipal burial registers, bristol and avon family history society
« on: Friday 16 September 22 08:12 BST (UK) »
Does anybody have access to "Bristol Municipal Burial Registers", produced on CD or download by the Bristol and Avon Family History Society please?
If so, would it be possible to look and see whether Louisa Hooper (died 14th July 1874) or Ida Gann (died 24th July 1893) are listed in it? I am trying to discover where orphans from the New Orphan Houses on Ashley Down were buried, and these two girls were orphans from that establishment. I have contacted the George Muller Charitable Trust, who keep all the records of the orphanage, but they are not able to tell me as they don't know.
Any help gratefully received, thanks.

the Clifton registration district was abolished 1 April 1877 and was replaced by Barton Regis. Ashley was a subdistrict in both.

As orphans, it's possible they were buried in a pauper's grave?
I.E. a communal grave?

I had also wondered that, but you would think there would still be a record somewhere of the names, although no headstones.

Have you asked Bristol City Council?
