Any info on Grace Desbrow b circa 1770 in King's Cliffe
« on: Friday 23 September 22 11:04 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find the parents of the above person, my 5 x Great Grandmother. I have a record of her marrying Matthew Hale in 1787 in King's Cliffe by which time she'd already had an illegitimate child, James baptised in Woodnewton in 1785.

I can see quite a few Desbrow baptisms in Wood Newton around the same time but nothing for Grace.

TIA,
Richard

Have you tried different spellings like Desborough?

Hello
The marriage seems to be in the registers of Wood Newton
Her burial there.
Grace Hale age 65 buried 4.4.1825 so born 1760.

She is baptised 2 Dec 1759 at Woodnewton to Richard and Anne Desbrow.(it's indexed as a burial on Ancestry but take a look and it's actually a Christening)
There seems to be no other children with parents Richard and Anne. Could it be a mistake or a second wife?

It can't be Richard and Elizabeth as they have a child Nov 1759 ,so perhaps Richard and Mary with children
Susannah 25.2.1738 ,John 20.9.1741,Mary 4.12.1743 , Richard 27.1.  1745 ,James 11.2. 1747 , Mathew 11.3. 1750,Robert 19.5.1754 ,George 5.12.1756

Richard Desbrow married Mary Simmons 21 st Sep 1736 but Mary buried 31.10.1787
Richard married Elizabeth Barns 31.3.1752 ( Elizabeth burial 15.1.1795 ?)

There are 3 burials for a Richard Desbrow in the parish
Richard  junior taylor 8 Dec 1783
Richard taylor elder 3.1.1790
Richard age 79 28.2.1809

And baptisms
Richard s of John 19.1.1710 (may be married Mary)
Richard s of John and Eleanor 15.3.1729 (lets assume married Elizabeth or Anne and died 1809 )
Richard s of Richard and Mary 27.1.1745

1737 Richard  a taylor taking on apprentice Woodnewton 2.12.1737 Will son of John Weeks.

Sorry Ill keep looking for Richard and Anne

Wow, thanks Ciderdrinker. There's a lot of info there. IDK why I had the marriage as being in King's Cliffe, checking the image on Ancestry clearly shows it as Woodnewton.
