Thanks for the snippets of info windy.

I just found a Elizabeth Titshall wed in 1813 in Alderton to Charles Cullum.

William Titshall himself was born 1760 in Laxfield, son of Richard and Judith (Nee Scarfe). He was one of 4 known children, Rose born 1750 in Gt Ellingham Norfolk, William himself, Richard born 1764 and Hannah who died in 1774. The Titshalls did move around a lot in Norfolk and Suffolk due to being millers.

Thanks.  I think that wraps up that they (William and Jeremiah) were connected by family.  That explains the transfer of the mill when William went to Fram.

One other thing ...

My records show a William Titshall, miller at Woodbridge (not to far away), marrying Elizabeth Smith of Woodbridge, in 1791.  If this is my man, then may be Elizabeth (who married Chas. Cullum) is their daughter, and Charles was their son-in-law?

Found one more apprenticeship record

Wm. Titshall of Framlingham - Miller on 17 August 1802 duty paid for John Threadkell.

Notes there is a marriage at Woodbridge of a John Threadkell of Melton to Hannah Titshall 17 October 1811.

Is this your William Titshall 1841 census Marlesford Common

William Titshall age 80 Miller born in county

Added Possible death 1844 age 84 registered Plomsgate for William (1841 census)

Yes, he might be.

I have his death as April 1844, at Marlesford, aged 83.  Where he had been miller until about 1835, only about 73 then.  We are not made of the same stuff as them old boys!

I descend from Richard Titshall born 1764. I have never been able to find his baptism, nor his sister Hannah's. Hannah died in 1774 in Laxfield, "daughter of Richard and Judith Titshall" it says on the burial. Richard died in 1811 aged 47. He is mentioned in a 1769 settlement cert as being the son of Richard and Judith, along with William. Rose had left home by then, so I guess Hannah was born in about 1770.

Judith was about 45 in 1770 as she was 23 in 1748 when she wed Richard Titshall. Judith was born in 1725 in Bridgham, Norfolk, daughter of Roger and Hannah Scarfe. (Hannah's maiden name is unknown).

The Hannah Titshall who wed John Threadkell was born in 1788 I think in Parham, and they applied for a marriage license at a Norwich Norfolk court. NCC Court.

Hi coombs

Hannah Titshall, daughter of Richard and Sarah née Fairweather, was baptized at Hacheston on 30 December 1787 (FamilySearch).

Their family is among the "East Anglian Ransome and Wilkinson family trees" researched by David and Sue Wilkinson. Being descended from Hannah's son John Threadkell (c.1812-1893), I found some years ago that his father was baptized at Kelsale in 1786 and buried at Woodbridge (St John) in 1860, but I saw no connection with Rachel of Walberswick. (She was buried there in 1870 aged 58 and John "Thredgell" in 1846 aged 38.)

I believe the elder John Threadkell's second wife was Mary Ann(e) née Haddock (b. Campsea Ashe; bapt. Hacheston 1795 as "Marianne"; m. Woodbridge 1816; bur. Nacton workhouse 1878 as "Maria").

Do you have a reference or URL for the 1811 NCC marriage licence bond or allegation?

David

On FindMyPast it will be under Britain Marriage Licences. Type in "Hannah Titshall". Not sure if directly posting links to FindMyPast are allowed on here.

The 2 bondsmen were John Threadkell, miller, of the parish of Melton, Suffolk, and Richard Titshall, miller, of Parham and Hacheston, Suffolk. Bound to the Worshipful Charles Millard of the Consistory Court of Norwich. Dated 17 October 1811.

John was aged 21 (and upwards) and so was Hannah Titshall. William Kett and Mary Sumpson were witnesses, and Richard Titshall signed.

Thanks coombs.

I now see that John is indexed as "Threadhell" at both Findmypast and FamilySearch, where his bond and allegation are images 988 and 989 of 1583 on film # 004033416, accessed through the search function, but (like Findmypast's page numbers) images 448 and 449 of 545 in the 1809-1813 bundle from the NCC's browsable list.

The diocesan chancellor's surrogate, William Kett, was probably at Shottisham, where he served as rector for over 50 years.
