Edna Dianne Cousins/Ayliffe and Elsie Cousins
« on: Sunday 23 October 22 07:43 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find info on Edna Cousins whom I think was born in Yorkshire about 1915 and migrated with her mother Mrs Elizabeth Cousins and siblings Elsie, Elizabeth and William Henry Jnr.  They were not accompanied by a husband/father.  I found them on the Outward Bound Passenger List March 1925.
I am particularly interested in both Edna and her sister Elsie.  They lived in South Australia, around the Port Pirie area.  I think Edna married Leo Ayliffe c. 1937 and she was possibly killed in a vehicle accident near Pt. Pirie in 1967. I don't lnow if they had family.
Elsie possibly married William Alfred Martin in 1928, also in Pt. Pirie.
Any information on this family would be very much appreciated.

I can't see a marriage notice, Ancestry have the marriage of Edna Diane COUSINS and Leo AYLIFFE in SA on 26 Oct 1937. You can see the marriage on the SA Genealogy index (382/4208). And her death 1967 (35A/6304)

There is this item on trove on 10 Nov 1937 in the "Recorder"
"Mr and Mrs Ayliffe visited the latter's parents, Mr and Mrs Cousins, of Fay street, for a brief holiday before returning to Kangaroo Island."

I think it is meant to be "Tay St", (Port Pirie). A notice placed in the Recorder in 1944 by William Henry COUSINS is of Tay St

Hello...
Elsie Cousins is my darling and dearly missed grandmother.
Nana married William Alfred Martin, whom unfortunately I never met, and I have been researching his father William Hugh Martin and his parents for many years now with no luck.
I'm not sure how much help I can be with regards to Edna Cousins, but obviously I have information on Elsie Cousins. I'm more than happy to help.
Cheers

Hello SherbrookeOZ and welcome to RootsChat.

I'm sure Dunscore will be along soon and will be happy to hear from you re Elsie COUSINS. Unfortunately Karint has not been active on here since Jan 2023, but if she still has the same email address she will receive notification of your post.

What information are you after re William Hugh MARTIN? I see there is a public tree on Ancestry that seems to have quite a bit of detail about him and family, including photos. Says William Hugh born Sherbrooke, Quebec 4 July 1873, died South Shields, Durham 28 Oct 1927. His parents William Henry MARTIN and Mary EADE.

Though you need to be careful of other people's trees when considering their accuracy.
