Corrissess in County Tyrone?
« on: Tuesday 01 November 22 02:27 GMT (UK) »
Has anybody ever heard of a place called Corrissess in County Tyrone?  That was birth location of Robert Hillock on Immigration Card.  (Date of Naturalization Sept 29, 1840.

Actual record looks like it might be Connifisiss or something like that.

Any help appreciated.

Here is a link to the Townlands in Co Armagh.

Are you able to put up a copy of the naturalisation card please.
https://www.townlands.ie/armagh/

There is this townland
https://www.townlands.ie/armagh/fews-upper/creggan/cullyhanna/corliss/

The name does not have as many syllables as the name on the card
but
the link does indicate that
'The Irish name for Corliss is Corr-lios'

I am not an Irish speaker but it does seem to have more syllables that Corliss

Do you have an indication on the card that the County is Tyrone?

ETA...sorry for putting the incorrect County up. It is Tyrone.

Welcome to Rootschat Peterhill

Old handwriting used a "long s" which resembled an "f"

Now that I am looking at the correct list I wonder if it is Corrashesk

I prefer this list of Townlands to the one on Wiki though I do cross check some times.
