Hand writing interpretation

Hello everyone,

I am not the best when it comes to reading old handwriting. If someone wouldn't mind looking the the attached and interpret the writing for the names of Fisher (age 70) and Poole (age 1 month).

Would this not be better posted on the "Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition" board as there are people who specialise in handwriting?

It would also be an idea to post other info. known which may help, e.g. where/when in New Zealand?

What I see is...

1. - R Wipp or Fisher - F (Female)...

This may denote a married woman whose maiden name was Wipp (or similar)?

2. - Infant of M A Poole...

The number 31583 may be a Military No?

As I mentioned, more info. may help others in helping you?

It is easier to interpret when we know the context. Is it a shipping list , deaths at sea?
R Phipp or Fisher F(emale)  Old age 70

Infant of Mr A Poole One month Atrophy (probably very seasick) At sea (aboard the ) “British Empire”

Looking at the other P's, and the S of Supt and Scarbro', I think the second line may start "R Shipp or Fisher" rather than Wipp or Phipp.

Ancestry's transcription agrees, for what that's worth.

"R Shipp or Fisher"

The baby's surname is Poole or Poore.

If Mrs Fisher was formerly Shipp, then the abbreviation after W A Poole is 'Spr.' - super? sapper? The latter is a military rank, but the number looks like different handwriting to me.

M. A. Poole or Poore was a Spinster. Almost certainly Mary Ann.

I think therefore that the Spr is short for 'Spinster'
