Ireland, Catholic Parish Registers, 1655-1915

Hi all - whilst searching the records for an ancestors marriage I came up with a reference written under the witnesses names - it states Deans Rath. Could someone please tell me if this is the location of the Church, or an area for the marriage? The marriage happened in 1824.

Deansrath is a townland but in Co Dublin

Would it be likely that a person from Dublin would be at the marriage?

The other idea I had is that it refers to a Kilkenny electoral division called  called Danesfort
A rath is (in Ireland) a strong circular earthen wall forming an enclosure and serving as a fort and residence for a tribal chief.

Danesfort ED has 9 townlands with one called Danesfort

ETA If you linked to the marriage document you are looking at we may be able to give some more help.

Townlands and links to them are a fundamental part of tracking ancestors in Ireland, along with religion.  It would be likely that a witness might refer to their location by referring to the townland they live in.

the Civil Parish of Knocktopher is in the RC parish of Thomastown.
Perhaps the two different types of parishes confused you.

It should be the address of the bride, or possibly the groom.
