I had a look and it seems North Dalton parish register has not been added to the database. Any advice welcome.

I'm leaning towards his father being William for the following reasons
 
North Dalton Burials all children of William
Francis 1789
George 1789
George 1790
Hannah 1789
Jane 1789 age 7

Your William gives his children these names.

An Ag Lab would move for work check nearby parishes for his baptism, his father may have moved to North Walton after he was born.

Check Poor Law records, if they had to ask for help a record may survive

Carole I did finally find North Dalton on Find my Past.

Amondg thank you for your helpful suggestions and yes I think you are right there is a strong likelihood about the link between the two Williams given the children's names.

William Lyon of this parish and Catherine Julian of North Dalton by banns 24 Dec 1776
William signed and Catherine made a x
Marriage done by William Mosey of North Dalton crossed through
wit John Scott ,William Flood and Thomas Binnington

Sons Henry 5.10.1777 and William baptised there 28 Feb 1779 and daughters Jane 28 Jan 1781 ,Hannah 27 Jan 1782 ,Francis 6.10.1783 before rest at North Dalton.
