pipe Organs of Co Durham
« on: Monday 26 December 22 12:37 GMT (UK) »
We have enjoyed a very interesting programme about saving pipe Organs, which features instruments rescued from Winston, Catchgate, and East Stanley.
Also contains an interview with a wonderful 95 year old lady called Blanche Beer, who had been playing the organ in her local Methodist chapel since she was 12.
It is called " Organ Stops, saving the king of instruments", and is available on BBC iPlayer .

It was a really good programme we thought , but sad for Blanche when she went back later in the programme. I won’t say more to avoid giving a ‘spoiler’.

Shame it doesn't play for us here in Australia.  :'(

I love pipe organs. The church I attended growing up had a very fine pipe organ and a number of good organists to play it (one of whom ended up in the UK playing at some relatively famous church, though I can't remember which one).
