The Regal Cinema, Tadcaster 1938-
« on: Monday 02 January 23 19:42 GMT (UK) »
Hi, Everyone,
Looking at the 1939 register I noticed that three members of the MILLS family were involved in running a cinema.  Apparently the head of the family, Harold MILLS was or became a big cheese in the Tadcaster area.  So I was wondering whether there are any within living memory oral accounts of this long demolished place of entertainment - apparently which began its life in 1938 - that might give reference to the MILLS family and its involvement...
Many thanks in advance,
Keith
The MILLS family respective roles were Cinema Lessee (Harold) and Cinema Operator and Cinema Attendant, the last two descriptive of the jobs two of his children had in 1939...

...have just googled, and there on the Sherburn in Elmet Photographic Archive is a lovely b/w photo of two men examining a spool of film, with the caption "Harold Mills and son Joe in the cinema projection room"...
