Aren't marriage indexes only available up to 1956 on CD?

Correct, but to search on line you can search up to 5 Jan 1943, as at todays date typing this.

You are right there 1943 is the limit online BMD in New Zealand
I did have someone with greater search skills in Geni look for me 1956-1965
and he found Nothing....most odd as they shown as a married couple in Electoral Rolls 1960

I'm not so familiar with searching out Australia BMD online ...

How did they do that if the registry is the only place to have access to those records?

If they are registered genealogists and have access to full database on a paid sub.
(I think).....unlike plebs like me who only use the 'free online access to BMD'

What needs to be mentioned perhaps is that ... after 1956 (the extent of the NZSG Marriages available on cd), there is the option to refer to microfiche records of NZ Marriages up to the year 1990 * .   This can be done usually at larger libraries in New Zealand (and some other repositories -  a few of which include Australia.)   That requires a physical visit though ... but you might find a New Zealand libarary online whose genealogy section could help with a "look-up" of the information.

In the case of the marriage you seek, the years to be covered are few ...  e.g. 1956 to **1960  1963.

Thank you, that is what I wanted to know - whether they were publicly available after 1956.

I might be blind, but the earliest I can see them together is 1963.  It also depends on when she became old enough to enrol.

Rolls re-checked ... her first appearance is 1963.

Mckha also gave this information re: electoral rolls in Reply # 3 here.   

Have also amended my post # 22 to show year as being 1963.
