This is an interesting mystery, concerning a lady who bought an bedspread in a charity shop and later realised in was WW1 embroidery featuring regimental badge designs.
This story also features in Who Do You Think You Are magazine this month.
The bedspread has since been donated to the National Army Museum.

What a great piece of history that has been lovingly embroidered in honour of the regiments who served during the WW1.
I do hope the creator's relatives get to hear about this.
Thanks for sharing  :D

You're welcome Carol.
I hope they might get to solve the mystery of who the creator of this wonderful was.
Surely someone out there must know something, you would think.
It is a work of art and must have taken a very long time to sew.
I think it was very generous of the lady who bought it from the charity shop to donate it so that others can enjoy and appreciate it. :)

Mowsehowse and Trish I am glad you both found this interesting too. :)

I hope something simple was tried such as the charity shop (and perhaps other local shops/venues) putting up a poster appealing for the person who dropped this off to come forward.
I daresay genealogy linked appeals might not reach their attention if thes person has no interest in this themselves.
It seems probable they had no understanding of the significance and worth of this item
