Mary Pratman who married Robert Burn in Beverley, Yorks
« on: Sunday 08 January 23 08:25 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for Mary Pratman and Robert Burn who married in Beverley. East Riding on 8 February 1769.
I cannot find anything about Mary Pratman other than the marriage date.

I have had some success with Robert Burn but have not found parents nor baptismal date.
In the UK Poll book I have found Robert Burn, occupation gardener and also in the Hull Directory of 1791 which includes Beverley I found Robert Burn of Walkergate, occupation gardener.
Robert Burn was buried in Beverley on Dec 30, 1805.

Has anyone got these two in their family tree?
Thanks, marp

Firstly, Mary Burn, wife of Robert Burn, was buried 19 February 1800 at Beverley, St John. No age given unfortunately.

I can find a baptism for a Mary Pratman 17 January 1744 in Beverley, father Robert.

There is a baptism 6 April 1734 in Hornsea (about 12 miles from Beverley) for a Robert Burn, parents John and Jane.

I'm not saying that these are your Robert and Mary but worth looking into.

Hi,  thank you so much for your prompt reply.  I  also found the burial of Mary Burn (nee Pratman) and think that her baptismal record you sent to me may be correct.

I had got myself into a bit of a muddle with the Pratman family and was following a different line (different father) and I think you have set me on the right path.

With regard to Robert Burn you may be correct about Hornsea.  I am following up this line of enquiry anyway.

Thanks again, marp
