Hi,
Robina Cruickshanks was my G. G. Grandmother born 21/2/1845 in Falkirk, Stirling, d. 27/5/1918 in Falkirk.
Her parents were Robert Cruickshanks (Crookshanks) and Christian/Christina Chalmers.
1. Robina had an illegimate daughter with a William Lyon(s) – Christina Lyon(s) b. 24/2/1963 in Falkirk. I have a copy of a document ‘Sheriff Court Paternity Decree Robina CRUIKSHANKS (NRS reference SC66/6/5/403)’. Robina is claiming yearly payment for the support of the child up to 12 years of age.
2. Robina married James Freeland on 21/8/1968 in Falkirk and went on to have 3 daughters.
Robina Freeland (my G. Grandmother), b. 12/4/1869, d. 19/10/1961. Married John McGie.
Two daughters both named Marion who died before they turned 2.
The 1871 Census for Falkirk, lists the family, James and Rubenia (Robina), with Christina Lyons, aged 8 and daughters Rubenia (Robina) and a Marion.
James Freeland died on 13/3/1874 in Falkirk.
3. Robina then married George Mitchell Walker on 17/8/1875 in Falkirk. They had 5 children – Jane, James Robert, May and Isabella. I have information of these children and who they married, etc.
4. Christina doesn’t appear in the 1881 Census for this family, but she does appear in a Falkirk 1881 Census as a General Servant (Domestic), unmarried, aged 18 yrs, b. in Falkirk, working for another family – Joseph Taylor, Head, aged 62, Clerk of Works and Isabella Taylor, wife, aged 54 yrs. Address is Carron Bank House in Falkirk.
After that the trail runs dry. I have checked Census info, Marriages and Deaths and various other leads in Scotland with no luck.
Hoping someone will be able to help with some new information on Christina.
Thanks in Advance.
Sandi
