Morgan Davies Hardwidge

Can any one please help me trace Morgan Davies Hardwidge.
I say this as he is the first born child of my great grandmother Phoebe Davies. He was born in 1870, Phoebe married my Great Grandfather John Hardwidge in 1871. In subsequent census he is listed as Morgan Hardwidge son of John.
He obviously didn't change ihis name legally as on his marriage certificate he is down as Morgan Davies. He married Elizabeth Thetford in 1893. She died in 1894, and I can not find him again till his death at the Somme in 1916, under the name Morgan David Hardwidge.
I would like to know what happened to him in the mean time, did he marry again. He is not living with his family in 1901.
