Ronald Arthur Millington & Jessie Obits

Good Evening I have without luck been trying to find the obits for Ronald and his wife Jessie. They came from Chester to live at  3 Anthony Close, Poughill, Bude, Cornwall. Ronald died in 1978 and his wife Jessie died in 2005 they didn't have any children. Ronald was married before Jessie to Kathleen O'Brien and apparently the marriage was dissolved because it was'nt consummated. I don't know what happened to Kathleen.  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thank you

There is no alteration to Kathleen’s name in the 1939.  Which suggests she retained the  Millington name - if she stayed in England.

There is this death.

MILLINGTON, KATHLEEN  MARY     1909 
GRO Reference:  DOR  Q3/2001 in LEICESTER  (6001F)  Reg F10D  Entry Number 135

But that isn’t her. She is the wife of Leslie Allan Millington.

Added….presume you mean the marriage was dissolved because it was not consummated.

I don't have access to the 1939 register, what occupation does it have for Kathleen? There is a report in June 1939 of a Kathleen MILLINGTON killed in a car accident. She was a nurse, of Hawarden (about 7 miles from Chester). though I can't see a death registration. (The trial was in June 1939, so the accident may have been earlier, so it may not be "this" Kathleen.)

Mrs Caroline O’Brien who was evacuated from London several weeks ago
Died on Tuesday at the home of her grand-daughter Mrs W. Millington, 1 Eaton road, Chester (this is the 1939 register address for Kathleen & Ronald )  ……

Her husband Mr John O’Brien of Westcliffe-on-sea, Essex was in the tailoring trade in London for many years. Evacuated in July. Mr & Mrs O’Brien came to be near their son Mr J O’Brien,  Bridge street row. She was 77

Survived by one daughter, one granddaughter & one great grandson

The daughter is Mrs K. Crump (R.A. Millington was at the funeral and also sent flowers)

Thank you all for your help - yes you are correct it wasn't consummated the marriage.  I will look at te newspaper when I go to Chester Archives next time.
