Emigration record for Baldwin Fraenkel from Prussia
« on: Friday 17 February 23 03:23 GMT (UK) »
Hi folks

Just looking for some fresh eyes. My Ancestor was born in Schildberg, Posen, Prussia around 1833

Baldwin Fraenkel emigrated to Van Diemans Land (Tasmania, Australia) around 1859. The first newspaper stories we have of him are there. He then moved to New Zealand. In Van Diemans Land he used the name Baldwin Franklin and kept that name the rest of his life.

We cannot find his emigration record from Prussia to anywhere let along Van Diemans Land. He was Jewish.

Im hoping someone else might be able to find it!

My Ancestor was born in Schilberg, Posen, Prussia around 1833

Isn't Schilberg located in The Netherlands (province: Limburg)?

Hi

Ive got Baldwin traveling from Van Diemans Land to NZ but nothing before that. As soon as he arrived in New Zealand he opened a billiard hall. He also did this in Van Diemans Land

Baldwin was born about 1833. He had at least two brothers Paul Fraenkel and Bernhard Adolph Fraenkel. Paul travelled to the USA and Bernhard moved to Zerkow. There may be other siblings but the origins of the family dont seem to be covered by records.
