Could you give some more details?

Parents?
Siblings?
Occupation?
Where was he born?
When is the last time you see him - where and with whom?
Why do you think he emigrated?

Does this James relate to your other thread about Margaret McCURLEY?
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=870325

I see that there is a 13 year old James with the family in 1901, but not with parents in 1911. Parents William and Ellen (nee MANN).

Each State and Territory in Australia has it's own Birth, Death and Marriages Registry. You can find links to them on the Resources Board.

I have had a quick look but can't see a death for a James McCurley (or similar) of about the right age and with parents Charles and Sarah, however a death certificate is only as accurate as the informant knew. (There are a few possible deaths with parents' names not recorded.)

In 1911 Irish census, he's with the Scullion family at house 34 in Ballyscullion West (Bellaghy, Londonderry). His occupation - bricklayer and born Scotland.
