Ruth, you say you have found John William Maw in the workhouse with Hannah. She was admitted on the 9th May 1912 and discharged 30th May 1912 and her illegitimate male son born between these dates? Hannah was born c1884.

The below is a possibility re Hannah.

Married Arthur Patrick Shackleton dq 1920 St Pancras. Arthur's 1st wife had died jq 1920.

1921 free census Hanna Shackleton born 1884 Leeds living at 6 Swinton Street, St Pancras.

They are together from 1920-1926 when Arthur dies in 1926.

Hannah continues to live at this address until 1929 and then vanishes again.

Are you open to sharing his exact dob and when he died?

John

Hi

I had found the marriage and wondered if it was Hannah. Very illusive lady.
When her parents died they left money to James, so it’s possible that she died. Also found a Shackleton going over Canada about the right time, but haven’t followed it up.
My friend hasn’t yet told me when her father died, so I can’t pass it on. She’s very excited that she’s got a family tree for her dad, but I think being illegitimate impacted on his life.

Regards
Ruth
