Edward Gleeson b.1807 in St Peter’s Port, Guernsey

Hello,

I am looking for the birth record of my 3x g.grandfather Edward Gleeson born in St Peter’s Port, Guernsey in 1807, hopefully giving his parents details, and also his marriage record to Isabella Jane Simmon sometime in the early 1830s.

I would be grateful for any inconvenience on this.

Doesn't necessarily help to find Edward's birth, however I notice on the baptism of son Edward in 1846 it mentions Godparents - James William GLEESON and Isabella GLEESON. I would have thought if these were the older children they would be a bit young to be godparents? Maybe Edward snr's siblings

I wonder who the Michael is in 1841 Census?

Apologies for the predictive error in my original message which should have read ‘information’ and not ‘ inconvenience’

The family moved between Guernsey and Jersey quite frequently with some children of Edward being born in Jersey and others in Guernsey. I presume it was quite common for residents to move between the two islands.

I did visit Jersey some years ago and obtained most of the information I have at their record office. I guess the only way to obtain Guernsey records is to visit Guernsey at some time to find out the an ancestors of Edward Gleeson.

Are Guernsey census returns freely searchable or are they only viewed at Guernsey?

Guernsey census returns are on Ancestry, just scroll down from UK returns and you'll find the Channel Islands ones.
The Priaulx Library has Guernsey BMD records and church records; they do offer a research service - probably cheaper than a visit
