Moody family's of North and South Wiltshire
« on: Saturday 25 March 23 20:40 GMT (UK) »
Has anyone been able to make a connection between the Moody family of Northern Wiltshire, specifically of the Moody's granted Garesdon Manor (Richard Moody), and the Moody family living in and around Warminster, specifically of Boyton, Upton Lovell, or Norton Bavant.

Welcome from me, too.

In 1543 the Crown granted Garsdon manor to Richard Moody. Richard (d. 1550) settled the manor for life on his wife Catherine, later wife of William Basely. On her death in 1556 it passed to Richard's son Richard (d. 1612). The younger Richard was succeeded by his son Sir Henry  (cr. a baronet 1622, d. 1629), whose son Sir Henry sold it in 1631 to Sir Laurence Washington.
