Leonard Cooper born c1847
« on: Monday 10 April 23 20:35 BST (UK) »
Hi
I have Leonard Cooper, living in Kensington, who says he was born 1847 in South Molton on the 1891 and 1911 census.
Helpfully, he says he's born in South Wales in 1871. And Kensington in 1881 🤦

He gives his father's name as Henry Cooper, basket maker, on his marriage registration to Harriet Humphreys in 1874, Notting Hill.

I also can't find him on 1851 or 1861 census or on GRO, so can't get his MMN.

Can anyone else see him please?

Hmmm .... The Devon one could be, especially if they were travellers? Hard to be sure though. Would be easier to know if there was an earlier census with the family and more children.
Thank you both.

Lot Cooper 1838 Axbridge mmn Brice but 1841 shows parents  as Robert & Mary - Robert was a shoemaker

Here's something to throw into the works ... buckland Filleigh is some twenty five miles away from South Molton . BUT Filleigh and East Buckland and West Buckland are only five miles away each. Is it possible that this is the Filleigh?

A child baptised in Devon may assume that's where they were born
