…I believe he went from England to Canada where he was from 1864 until he moved to California (first appearing around 1880). If anyone has anything earlier than the 1880 census it could be helpful. Will keep looking.
Also can anyone find his place of burial??..

Reverse side appears to be “Filed Nov 2 1868 E. Bynum Clerk”
The image may include Joseph’s signature (it could be his).
In 1868 in Woodland, E Bynum was appointed secretary of the Democracy of Yolo County.
Ed Bynum resided in Woodland, Yolo County.
Perhaps Joseph Tongue lived in the area at that time, or made a special trip to the county.
