Donald Alexander Macbean Ross died 6 December 1894Hampstead
DEATH OF MR. D. A. MACBEAN ROSS, J. P. With much regret we announce the death of Mr. Donald Alexander Macbean Ross, J. P., manager of the London branch of Commercial Bank of Scotland, and formerly treasurer of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Hampstead, which took place last week at his residence, Cleve-road, as the result of sad accident. He had been suffering for some time from dyspepsia and insomnia, and had been in the habit, when he could not sleep, of going down to the library. He must have done this on the night of the accident, as he was found about four o'clock in the morning lying at the foot of the stairs insensible, having evidently fallen down them in one of the fits of giddiness to which he was subject. Mrs. Ness, who heard heavy breathing, and in consequence went out on to the landing and found him as described, called for assistance, removed him to a sofa, and sent for a doctor. He, however, did not regain consciousness, and died about three o'clock in the afternoon. On Friday evening a short funeral service was held in Trinity Presbyterian Church, prior to the remains being removed for interment to Dingwall, N. B. The coffin, covered with beautiful wreaths, was placed on trestles in front of the communion table. Prayers were offered and suitable hymns sung, and the Rev. J. R. Gillies gave a few words of exhortation, and paid a feeling tribute of friendship and respect to the dead, who had for so many years been a member and an office-bearer of the church.
