Kings of Ostraige
« on: Sunday 14 May 23 14:17 BST (UK) »
Good Afternoon

I have recently potentially found that I am a direct descendant of Áenghus Osruighe, Founder and 1st King of the Kingdom of Ostraige (Ossory). I have traced my line directly back to him making him my 52nd Great Grandfather.

My understanding is that Ossory is now County Kilkenny and part of County Laois and the line looks strong up until the Norman Invasion of Ireland. The last claim to the kingship of Ossory resulted in the kingdom being surrendered to King Henry 8th and given back as a barony named the barony of upper Ossory. This line ended some time ago.

Does anyone have any information on this subject that could be useful please?
