Hi I wonder if anyone can help with middleton , according to census records Thomas Hutchinson born Easingwold 1840 married Mary Anne Watson born 1842 father Joseph Watson,  this is my great grandparents , my grandfather John robert Hutchinson born 1864 is on census record as born in middleton when I look at record its saying middleton hartlepool how ever when viewing the record its saying middleton in teesdale as to where my grandfather was baptised and Thomas Hutchinson death middleton in teesdale , can anyone help with this thank you .

Not sure which record you are seeing with a Hartlepool registration, but I think this is your John Hutchinson:

John Hutchinson, Q4 1864, mmn Watson, Teesdale, Durham
Boyd, Dove, Blakey, Burdon

That is the correct john Hutchinson I'm not sure either why its coming up two different places of same name .

There is a baptism at Easingwold
Thomas 5th July 1840 s of John and Hannah Hutchinson horse keeper
siblings William 6th July 1834 of Shipton , John 7th July 1839 Groom to Coach horses.

1851 census Middleton  Teesdale Durham
John Hutchinson 43 police constable Easingwold
Hannah 48 Riccall
John 14 tailors apprentice Shipton
Thomas 11 Easingwold
Richard 6 Gainford Durham

In 1841 they were in Long St Easingwold horse keeper so they moved to Cty Durham and got a different job 1841-1845.

John married Hannah Got of Nun Monkton at Overton Yorkshire 22 May 1833 wit William Mortimer and Charles Carr

Please can you tell us what this record is that says Hartlepool (if its a census which year and the references if possible) and where you have seen it?

So middleton in teesdale must be correct for census and not middleton hartlepool , thank you for information .

Not sure if this throws any light on the subject but there is a shopping centre in Hartlepool named the Middleton Shopping Centre.
