Do you know the town or state where this occurred?

Is this the family?

There is a son Stephen born in 1947 with a father John W Newman born 1921 in England. The mother (wife of John W) is listed as Noreen A Newman, born in NJ.

1950 census: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6XYW-XMC4

There is a passenger ship record of a John William Newman returning to NY in 1947. He was born 1921/1922 in England, and he is returning to his wife Alice N Newman in Brooklyn, NY. Is the “N” for Noreen for the Alice N on the passenger record? And the “A” for Alice for the Noreen A on the 1950 census?

The New Jersey death index has a Kenneth F. Newman, who died in Aug. 1966 in Mendham, New Jersey, which was also his place of residence.

Dear RJ137 and shellyesq

Thankyou for the information, yes this is the family, i didnt know too much apart from John went to america and had family there.Am i assuming there was nothing in the newspaper about Kenneths death? or is there somewhere else i might be able to find out more, It was accidental so i was told.If he wasnt on the 1950 census he was born after 1950 which would work out right he was only in his teens when he died,

Thankyou again  Tim

Unfortunately, not all newspapers are online, so it's impossible to say that there was nothing in the newspaper about it without off-line research.  You could contact the Mendham library and see if they will do look-ups in newspapers in their library or could tell you what newspaper such an obituary would likely be in.  https://www.mendhamboroughlibrary.org/contact/

You may be able to order a copy of the death record, although the NJ website is rather confusing about who qualifies.  https://www.nj.gov/health/vital/order-vital/
