Thank you for finding a Mr Neave Shume. I hadn’t managed that .
Certainly helps to build a circumstantial case if nothing else.
I notice he took 2 of the Ragged Boys. The other being Francis Scott, a Printers (?) Boy.

Well if it is of relevance or not I cannot say but there was a Francis Edward SCOTT who was a publican in Buckland Victoria for many years. The Hit and Miss Hotel.

He died in 1889 aged 58 born England in 1831. His parents were John and Elizabeth nee HALL (reg 15438)

He had married in Victoria to Eliza BOYCE. 1856/65.

I was looking through the passenger list hoping to see that one of the people to Nelson in 1854 could have been there.
But what there is is a family of McGees.
This is not Elizabeth’s immediate family, they went to NZ much earlier, but I wonder if that is a connection. Or a coincidence.

James 41, farmer. Went to Melbourne disengaged
Ann 41, ditto
Sarah 24
Margaret  19
Samuel 17
Mary 14
Rebecca Jane 11

I will have to get back to person I am helping. I haven’t been looking at the McGees!

This may or may not be the George you are seeking. Perhaps its possible to find more about him and when he became a publican in Nelson

Advice (May 1859) that George SEYMOUR has recently taken over the Victoria Hotel, Haven Road (late the Bridge Hotel) ...  >

Elizabeth’s father was Alexander, he died 1855 age 55. So born Abt 1800
That would make him of an age to be the same generation as James .  Trees don’t have much information about him.
Later family is RC, so presume the Alexander McGees were too.

No, the James McGees are from Dundee and Presbyterian
So I think that’s a wash.
Shame.
