Emesly & Collins Fruit Farm
« on: Tuesday 20 June 23 11:27 BST (UK) »
Can anyone tell me where Emesly & Collins Fruit Farm was situated in Lincolnshire in 1921. One of my ancesters (resident of Whaplode) was working there as a Farm Labourer.

They appear to be a Halifax based company
https://piecehalllearning.wordpress.com/stories-from-the-wholesale-market/

The Sleaford Gazette, 31 Aug 1912, reported a "LARGE PROPERTY SALE" held at Spalding, selling off property of the Johnson estate
Amongst the purchasers
"...; freehold farm at Raven's Bank, Whaplode St Catherines, 31 acres, Messrs Emsley & Collins, Bradford, Bradford, £1,750".

In all they purchased 5 lots in Whaplode St Catherine's

A newspaper report from 1909 reports a fire "in a field belonging to Messrs EMSLEY and Collins, fruit growers, on the Gedney-road, Long Sutton, about a mile from the town"

In 1926: "The South Lincolnshire Estate of Messrs ELMSLEY and Collins, fruit salesmen, Bradford (who are dissoloving partnership) was sold ... at Spalding"

Just noticed at the very top left hand corner of the map you posted – a Roman Road

A search of the 1921 census with employer "Emsley" and parish "Whaplode" finds 50 people. Many of them give Whaplode Fen as place of work. I found one family who specify Millgate Road. Of course there may have been more than one farm.
