Harriet Holmes born Brewood c1853
« on: Thursday 06 July 23 16:53 BST (UK) »
Hi,I’m trying to confirm the death date of my great, grand aunt Harriet Holmes, she married John Dutton ( 1847-1883) at Great Wyrley in 1871,upon his death she married Thomas Sant(1842-1916) and they lived at 34,Pond Lane,Wolverhampton. The only death I can find for a Harriet Sant ( born 1853) in Wolverhampton is 1940, however I can’t find her on the 1921 Census ( her adopted nephew Edwin John and his wife Emma were living at that address) also I can’t find her on the 1939 census either, interestingly there is a Harriet Sant, widow born 1853 living in Sutton Coldfield.
Could anyone possibly advise me how I could find her death?
Any help would be most appreciated.
Many thanks.
Cheers.
Brian.

Have you checked her birthdate with the one in Sutton Coldfield?

If you mean November 1853, that’s fine.

I read it first as November meaning 1852 which would then be feasible.

I can see a published tree for Harriet Holmes with parents James and Ellen (Whitehouse). Is that her?
The only birth I can see then is Penkridge, December quarter 1852 vol 6b pg 289.

I realise that this is still not the same as 1939 register but the birth day/month might help from the birth certificate.

HARRIET Holmes bapt 12 Jan 1853, St Luke, Cannock
Parents JAMES/ELLEN
Abode Great Wyrley
Father a Butcher
(FreeREG)

Would fit with a 9 Nov 1852* birth, although 1939 has 9 Nov 1853

Trish :)

Just reporting a negative result, for the record:

In 1921 Harriet is not with her daughter Hannah Elizabeth Thomas (neé Dutton).
Boyd, Dove, Blakey, Burdon

Many thanks to everyone for their replies,I’ve got all my great, grand aunts and uncles births and deaths except Harriet’s, equally frustrating is that I’ve had handed down to me a late Victorian family photo album but none of the photos have a name beside them, more than likely Harriet is one of them? however a very good local historian did manage to get a name for one of them.
The names most likely to be in this album are Holmes,Harvey,Beech,Rhodes,Poyner,Bradbury Jones(ex West Bromwich) and their associated in laws, primarily from the Great Wyrley,Cheslyn Hay,Bridgetown and Cannock areas,if anyone thinks any of their relatives are in the album and they want a copy I’ll endeavour to send it to them.
Thanks
Cheers.
