The Wilcock name originated from a family tree I found on Ancestry.   I'm researching the Evans/Wilcock  family tree backwards, in particular Eliza,  from the marriage of William Ferriday Evans b.1844 and Eliza  Alcock b.1845  who married in Liverpool on 22nd March 1868.  The marriage certificate shows Eliza, daughter of Thomas Alcock, Lace Manufacturer.    The Ancestry tree shows Eliza the daughter of Thomas Alcock born c.1807 and Elizabeth Wilcock born c.1812 but it does not include a marriage date.    I have limited access to Ancestry (local library) but my next step is to email the tree owner to see if he/she can throw any light on the marriage date.

rosie, as pointed out by you they are Claines, Worcs, do you think this could be him in 1861
2109

Thomas's details fit nicely,

Not him

Could it be the same Thomas and he had two families? :-\
He would have had to have been enumerated with both of them in Claines in 1851!
They are similar age, born Gloucestershire, Lace Machine Maker / Lace Manufacturer

Thomas the lace manufacturer with wife Mary and children in Claines in 1851

They are in Mansfield in 1841! Thomas a Lace maker.

It doesn't mention the possibility of Thomas having two families?

I did notice this birth earlier
BROOKS, LUCY
Mother's maiden surname
GRO Reference: 1842  S Quarter in OF MANSFIELD UNION  Volume 15  Page 485

Interesting that Harriett married as Harriet Brooks Alcock.
Joseph Brooks Alcock a witness.
Her Father Thomas a Lace Manufacturer

This is weird?
Thomas and Mary Allcock have a son John.
Age 3 in 1841, he is with them in Claines in 1851.
Baptized at Mansfield, 17 Sep 1837. Born 26 August 1837. Father Lace Manufacturer.

Birth registration possibility in Mansfield
ALLCOCK, JOHN
Mother's Maiden Surname: BROOKS
GRO Reference: 1837  S Quarter in MANSFIELD  Volume 15  Page 352

The John Allcock mother Sheppard registered Mansfield in Dec qtr 1837 seems to be the Teversal one, son of James and Ann

Marriage at Nottingham, 20 Sep 1828
Thomas Alcock
+
Mary Brooks

Both of the Parish. By Licence.

If the two families idea is plausible, is it even possible that Mary and Elizabeth were related?

It all sounds quite possible. I have been trying to map all the children.

Baptisms to Thomas  & Mary in Claines
1829 Ann /  1831 Thomas / 1833 Emma / 1834 Elizabeth
First 3 are with Thomas and Mary in 1841, could the Elizabeth with Thomas and Elizabeth be the fourth child? Not born Nottinghamshire on census.
Newspaper report puts Thomas, lace manufactuer in Claines in 1833.

Baptisms to Thomas & Mary in Mansfield
Jane born 1835 baptised at the same time as John in 1837. abode Hermitage Lane

Baptisms to Thomas and Elizabeth in Mansfield
1838 Harriet
1844 Eliza abode Hermitage Ho
