1841 Census- New Windsor
« on: Friday 09 September 05 15:15 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have access to the 1841 census for New Windsor?

I'm looking for the HORWOOD family, possibly in Datchet Lane:

WILLIAM HORWOOD aged about 62
MARY  his wife, about 56

I don't think any of their children would still be living with them but they were-

WILLIAM about 30
MARY about 27
JANE about 24
HENRY about 20

I'm looking for any clues to Mary's history as I'm totally stuck!!

Thanks,
Jill.

Hi Jill

You may already have this from the 1851 census - but I thought it would be more help than the 1841 as that one won't give you birth places, just wether they were born in Berkshire or not

24 Charles Street New Windson Fo 561 a

HORWOOD
William aged 72 born Waltham
Mary aged 66 born Windsor
William aged 40 born Windsor
Mary Padbury aagrandaughter aged 9 born Bucks Eton

Debbie
Pay(n)ton, Payton, Pe(a)rton all Oxfordshire and Berkshire - particularly Abingdon

Thanks Debbie,

I had already got the 1851 entry from another contact but you've given me the added info of the birthplace of the granddaughter, which might help me move on a bit!

Thanks again,
Jill

Hello,
I am now back from my holiday and can sometimes do look ups at the Berkshire Record Office for Windsor 1841 where there is an INDEX (yippee)
I shall hopefully be going next week so if you can wait a bit longer
I'll do it then,
Newbie :)

Hi Newbie,

Thanks a lot for that.

It's introduced a couple of people I didn't know about ( always good!) and William snr has suddenly decided he was born outside Berkshire (bad!).

Anyway, it gives me a lot of looking up to do!

Thanks again for your time and effort - it's much appreciated.

Jill.
