Census Day
« on: Saturday 26 August 23 21:59 BST (UK) »
Hello,  was the American census all taken on the same day like Britain?
I have found a lady in the 1870 census twice.
She was a war widow and with her son's in Poughkeepsie on June 25 1870 and is with friends at Flushing Queens NY but there is no date on the census forms?  Thank you

No, they were not all taken on the same day. While most seem to have been taken in the month of April, they also could have been taken a couple of months before or after April. I have seen numerous people appear in more than one location in a census year. They may have been recorded at their home and a week or two later are visiting family across town or in another city or state and are recorded there too!
