Hello,

I recently acquired an old photo album belonging to:

Patrick J Allen (b. 4 Feb 1929, Bournemouth)

Would be very grateful for any help with looking up info on him as I'd to trace relatives if possible. Several of the photos are wedding photographs, and those are from a Scottish photographer based in Greenock - as a result I'm guessing his wife may have been Scottish.

Any info that people can find on parents, his wife, and any potential children would be much appreciated.

You can do this type of searching yourself using a number of free websites - I easily found his marriage in Scotland & the births of at least 2 children in England

He married in Scotland 1955 so use www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk (SP)

Use the GRO index available on Ancestry or FindMyPast or GRO online for deaths after 2007

Using the above website shows his middle name was James

The 1939 index gives him in Poole with
Reginald Allen born 18 June 1891 munitions worker
Jennie C born 18 April 1897

Reginald J W Allen married Olive J Hardy at Bournemouth Sep qtr 1928.
Dad died 5 June 1961 at Poole leaving an Admin of £260 to his wife Jennie Olive Allen.
Jennie died April 1991.
It looks like he was their only child.

So looking for family farther afield

The whole family are in the workhouse 1901
Ellen married charwoman 41 born Bromhill
Dorothy 11,Reginald 9,Millicent 7,Grace Ivy 5

Grandparents married Bremhill 25 Dec 1889 James Allen and Ellen Ponting
Children Dorothy Emily Blanche  1890-8 June 1959 wife of Stanley William Archer Trowbridge,
Reginald 1891,
Gertrude Millicent Helen 1893- Mar 1979 Bournemouth wife of Robert Grady born 1893.Son Frank R A Grady 1934-2009.
and Ivy Ella Grace 1895 who seems to vanish

Grandparent Hardy ---Walter 1871-1953  Swanage bricklayer and Jane Edwards born 1873
 
Children Delamotte Herald Hardy 22 Jan 1899-17 Aug 1973
George 8 Mar 1900-Mar 2000 Swanage
Ella May 18 Sep 1911-6 Feb 1993 wife of Francis Gerald Eustace.
She's with the Allen family in 1939.
So it's going to be cousins I'm afraid

There are two sons, as per earlier.
Born too recently to name here, but as said…search on FreeBmd using the mothers unusual maiden name,

Using the date of birth on the 1939, his death in a lancashire can be found in 1913 so perhaps one of the sons  was in that area.
