The Kitchens of Grosse Pointe Michigan.
« on: Wednesday 13 September 23 03:52 BST (UK) »

I am trying to trace back the following, but I am not having much luck:

Robert T / Dallas M / Dallas Robert Kitchen 1933- married Joan Anton 1938-2018 https://www.grossepointenews.com/articles/joan-kitchen/

Potentially his ancestors:
Robert George 1892-1954 Barry, MI married Augusta E. Timreck, 2nd wife Gussie E
Children:
Muriel J 1933

Going back further:
John Henry 1861-1910 married Elizabeth Randall 1866-1951
John Henry 1886- East Nissouri Township, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada 1973 31 Aug 1973 - Bradenton, Manatee County, Florida, USA, married Beatrice Adelaide Seaton 1887-1955

Any help and confirmations would be greatly appreciated.

As you say, likely parents are Robert and Augusta KITCHEN. They are together in the 1940 census at Grosse Point:

and 1950:

The 1930 census has Robert and Augusta and Elvina TIMERCK (74, mother-in-law) at Grosse Point.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X7SB-GH2

Robert's parents are said to be born in England.

I think that Augusta and Gussie are the same person and there was only one marriage. Robert G KITCHEN married Gussie E TIMRECK on 25 Dec 1921 (her mother - Elvina SACHAVE). His parents: John KITCHEN and Elizabeth BANDALL.

Robert George KITCHEN born 18 Nov 1892 in Michigan, parents John and Elizabeth (born England).

1910 census for the KITCHEN family at Huron, Michigan
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:ML5Z-X2T

John Henry KITCHEN's immigration date - 1891. The older children are born Canada, which fits with the 1920 census where Robert is with brother William.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MZ4Q-G8Y

(Even though this census has Robert and William's father's birthplace as Canada, I don't think this is correct. Every census that John Henry KITCHEN fills in has his birthplace as England.)

1900 census at Huron has John Henry and Elizabeth KITCHEN saying they are married 14 years, so c1886.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MSM6-RM9

There are quite few records for their children which have mother Elizabeth's maiden name as BENDALL, BANDALL, RANDALL, BENDLE.

John Henry KITCHEN's grave stone has his date of birth as 15 Feb 1863.

And death records show his father's name was also John KITCHEN.

Great stuff - thanks.
Nearly all Kitchens lead to New York, but this is one of the few occasions that a different line potentially has come to Canada/America.
Down to a DNA test I think to see if there is a connection.

Still looking for a marriage for John Henry KITCHEN and Elizabeth BENDALL [?].

This is her name written on the birth registration of son John Henry in Oxford, Ontario. Looks like BENDALL. Depends on her accent I guess what the name really is. I would think it definitely starts with a "B".
