My gt grandfather, Fred Holling of Tibshelf, was a stretcher bearer for St John Ambulance in the Boer War. I wrote to SJA in 1984 and they were able to provide brief service records for Fred. The modern equivalent seems to be

There may also be newspaper reports - when I searched for Emily Coleman her marriage in April 1914 came up if you don't already have that.
