I have currently hit a brick wall with John May born abt 1670 possibly old Basing, Hampshire. Married to Sarah Taplin in 1700.. John died 1716 old Basing. While looking at his will it states he is leaving his estate of his father Bernard Hawtrell and further refers to his said father James Lee. Can anyone suggest how I can take this further Will dated 1716 . All names mentioned I think were yeoman / gentleman. Thank you for any help

Bernard Hawtrell is who John May’s father purchased property from

“Purchased by my father of Bernard Hawtrell”

Same with James Lee. The father bought property from him.

John had two brothers, James & Daniel May.

So looking for Daniel there is

Dannel Maye, Baptised 17 Apr 1676, Old Basing,Hampshire,England
Father   = Kestear Maye

I think this could be the Will of the father in the PCC on Ancestry. I hope so because there are a lot of names.

Christopheri May
[Christopher May]
Residence   Basing, Hampshire, England
Probate Date   12 Feb 1693
