1851 census missing from Findmypast
« on: Monday 02 October 23 10:06 BST (UK) »
I was looking for a census entry on FamilySearch and not finding it I tried Findmypast (FS use FindMyPast indexes) but I can't find it there either.

Details are from images that I can see on Ancestry and the handwriting is very clear.

Piece 1499
Folios numbered 391-412
Pages 1-42 (plus the first page describing streets covered)

Streets covered: Pulteney Street, Princes Terrace, Titterton Terrace, Copenhagen Street, Francis Street, George's Terrace, Barnsbury Road.

Civil parish:    Islington
Ecclesiastical parish:    Trinity
County/Island:    Middlesex
Registration district:    Islington
Sub-registration district:    Islington West
Borough of Finsbury

Some of the more unusual names but clearly written (i.e not SMITH):

James GOLAND, 16, born Clerkenwell
Thomas GOOSE, 43, born St George, Bloomsbury
William KIRTLAND, 25, born Islington
Charlotte GUPPY, 63, Born Northampton

I have given up looking for entries on FS in the past thinking that they were just badly indexed but now I am wondering if many have in fact been missed by FindMyPast.

Can anyone find these pages on FindMyPast?

Debra  :)

I've looked on FindMyPast but not found so far but it is showing up on Ancestry, as you say.

I've found Copenhagen West Street on the address search - e.g. 342/36  so should be close by.

Add -Schedules for Francis street go up to early 300s but no further. It looks as if a whole batch/batches are missing from F M P

Almost 2 years ago, I reported that an entire ED in the 1851 census had incorrect images attached. Six months later I reported another ED which also had incorrect images attached.
Despite chasing these up every 3 months or so I am still being told its been 'passed to the data dept'

Last time I asked about it I was told that the problem was greater than they thought.

You can try reporting it, but I doubt they will fix it, this side of any Christmas you care to put a year to :-(

It looks as if a whole batch/batches are missing from F M P

For what its worth
Piece 1499
Ancestry =  22,299 results (including 4,326 heads of household)
Findmypast = 15,696 results (3,065 heads of household)

So potentially 6,603 people missing on findmypast. Yikes!
