Ryan family
« on: Thursday 12 October 23 13:49 BST (UK) »
I recently found entries in the "New Inn & Knockgraffon" parish register listing William Ryan (gtgt-grandfather) marriage to Margaret Murphy on 22/1/1832 and Patrick Ryan gt-grandfather bapt.5/8/1835. Finding it impossible to trace family further back or forward up to 1857 when Patrick  married Ann Rossiter in Manchester, England. Any help would be appreciated. Alan Ryan

You could gather information from the records you have but it is difficult to find events during the times you want.
Patrick’s baptism shows the residence as Marlhill. There are two townlands in Tipperary but this one looks to be the one.

There are other children baptised to William and Margaret. Do you have those?
Nicholas 12th December 1832
James 6th December 1837
Ellen 30th June 1840
Sometimes, sponsors are relatives, you could check those.  Thos Ryan is Nicholas’s , for example.

Good morning Heywood, thank you for your reply and information. I have James and Ellen but not Nicholas, I'll have another look at Parish register. I also have Charlotte c.1849 - c.1891 from the Manchester census. I've been searching for the family's home township for over 20 years and researched numerous what eventually turned out to be red herrings, many of which I've posted on here. I'll now start searching Marlhill to see if I have any luck there. Hopefully I can get across to Ireland again in the near future and visit these towns grave yards. Alan
