RIP and thank you for your ultimate sacrifice.

We all know about the muddy conditions endured by our men but this trooper had to also take care of his horses that pulled the gun carriages, which can't have been aneasy job trying to pacify terrified animals.

The Royal Horse Guards (the 'Blues') were employed in the cavalry role in World War One, although they were briefly used as machine gunners in early 1918. Their horses did not pull guns.
