Shibden Hall Halifax
« on: Wednesday 01 November 23 20:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi. I recently visited shibden hall..marvellous. when telling my friend she told me she had found notes over 50 year ago in the gardens to shibden. She was only a child but she has saved the notes. On viewing them they date back to 1850s many names on and looks like sick notes. Nothing of importance so not sure why hidden in the garden. I tried to research the names to connect shibden hall but nothing?? Thought maybe they were servants. Does anyone know what else I could do to research this please.

Thankyou

Stacey

I'd try contacting the staff at Shibden Hall to see if they know anything.

Or you could find the 1851 census for the Hall and see if any of the names pop up on the lists you have.

It might help if you posted some images of the notes for us.
;D Doing my best, but frequently wrong ;D
:-* My thanks to everyone who helps me, you are all marvellous :-*

You could try contacting Calderdale FHS.

Surviving records and artefacts from Shibden Hall (including the diarist Anne Lister’s writing-case) are held at the Calderdale Museum
