Private John Richard Lyddiatt, Oxs & Bucks Light Infantry, 1909
« on: Sunday 10 December 23 17:00 GMT (UK) »
I have discovered one of my great uncles died of pneumonia on 16th April 1909. He was 17 years old.

Private John Richard Lyddiatt, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry.

John died at Cowley Barracks, I presume from his age and location, he was doing his basic training?

I cannot find his burial location or indeed his service record, can anyone help please?

Records were usually destroyed when someone died in service. Given his age his records would not say much anyway.

Hi,

Many thanks for your replies, I have contacted Headington Quarry Holy Trinity and may drive up there over the Christmas period.

That was my worry that his records did not survive, it was worth the ask.
